We sat down with the amazing Onsite Coordinators at the Burroughes this week! What an interesting interview!
Let’s start with an easy one: Who are you and what do you do (other than being awesome of course)?
We are an intimate team of event coordinators for The Burroughes.
Tell us a little, or a lot, about your space.
The Burroughes is a landmark building on the ever so trendy Queen Street West. Restored to its original historic grandeur, our venue is over 6,000 square feet with access to the rooftop terrace. The venue is a blank canvas that can be customized to fulfill any client’s event vision. Our dramatic venue features exposed brick walls, luminous windows, soaring ceilings and unparalleled skyline views from our rooftop terrace. With a fully equipped kitchen, in-house audio visual, private suite, nearby parking and access to Toronto’s top vendors for catering, furniture and décor, our property offers convenience for any event.

Aside from our venue’s unbeatable location and stunning appearance, our flexibility and care for client relationships is what makes us the best venue to work with! We believe in curating every client’s vision and bringing it to life. Our venue has endless opportunities and clients can utilize all three spaces to create their story.
Give us a little literary tour of your venue.
Walking off Queen Street West, you are introduced to a secluded quaint entrance. From there, our lobby leads to the gold accented elevator preserved from its original entity. Upon reaching the sixth floor, the elevator door opens into our bright and airy grand main room. Here you are, met with contrasting raw hardwood flooring and clean white walls, gorgeously lit by natural light beaming from the floor to ceiling windows. You are led through a charming archway into our east room, where the famous, exposed brick Burroughes wall invites you in. The Edison bulbs add just the perfect amount of romantic ambience and lighting throughout the venue. The final stop on our tour is to ascend the stairwell up to our rooftop, where the staggering views of the Toronto skyline await.
How many guests can your venue accommodate?
We accommodate 380 cocktail style between both rooms and our rooftop.
What makes your venue different from all the others?
The Burroughes is a well-preserved heritage building with a quaint loft-style feel in the heart of downtown Toronto making it very unique. Our venue prides itself in offering a lot of complementary add-ons to help with client’s budgets. We have strong working relationships with preferred vendors to ensure all our client’s needs are met.
What is your favourite part of the wedding day or planning process?
Our favourite part of the wedding day is seeing the groom’s initial reaction as the bride walks down the aisle.
What questions do you wish all couples would ask you?
We love when our clients ask for our opinions given the expertise we are able to provide with our diverse events experience.
What question do you wish couples would start asking you?
We love when couples ask to see floor plans! This allows us to give strong visuals to help them envision their dream layout.
What’s the one wedding trend you currently love?
We love the non-traditional family style tables that connect guests to allow them to converse. Not to mention the tables look lovely in our space.
What’s the one wedding trend you could do without?
We love all trends! We prioritize and do our best to accommodate our clients vision no matter the trend.
What’s the one piece of advice you give all your couples?
Remember what the day is all about! Take some time to take it all in.
