Vendor Spotlight - The Macaron Box
We got to sit down with Stephanie, the owner of the Macaron Box. We’ve worked with Stephanie multiple times for both our wedding and corporate clients, which is why we sat down with her to discuss her business and why she would be amazing for your next event!
Lets start with the easy one: Who are you?
Stephanie Williams, born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Studied professional cooking at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Trained under highly acclaimed Swiss Chef Marcel Kuenzler at the Bears Den Restaurant. Moved to Toronto in 2007 for a pastry chef position, then pursued my life long dream to have my own pastry business, The Macaron Box.
What do you do (other than being awesome of course)?
I make macarons. I make macaron towers, macaron favours, gift boxes (bridesmaid proposals, signature tea and macaron box, hot chocolate and truffle macaron box). I also do hand-dipped truffle stations as well, and, of course, I do cake pops and cupcakes upon request.
So, why weddings?
I love to be a part of someone’s special day and just try to make it that much sweeter. I have a moral philosophy that appeals to the everyday bride. I believe that no matter how much you have to spend on your wedding, every bride deserves to have some of the finer things and it’s not only for the elite. I am an online business only, so I am able to keep my costs low, which is great for a bride on a budget.
What is your best part of the wedding day or planning process?
Honestly, I never get sick of hearing “these are the best macarons I’ve ever tasted.” That would definitely be my favourite part.
What question do you wish all couples would ask you?
If I can make macarons for all their parties.
What question do you wish couples would stop asking you?
To make the cone-shaped macaron towers that hang on with the toothpicks, only because once they are half-eaten, they start to look reaslly disgusting with all the bare toothpicks pointing out with buttercream and crumbs sticking to it. I much prefer the clear teared towers. They’re much more elegant.
What’s the one wedding trend you currently love?
Dessert carts!
What’s the one wedding trend you could do without?
I think all weddings are unique and it’s because of those trends and traditions that are important to each couple that makes them special, and when done correctly can be beautiful no matter what.
What’s the one piece of advice you give all your couples?
Less is more!
