Day-Of Coordination VS Month-Of Coordination: Is There a Difference?
Over the last few years, we’ve had a lot of potential clients are us what the difference between Month-Of Coordination and Day-Of Coordination, and although we offer Month-Of Coordination but call it Day-Of Coordination, a lot of other Wedding Planners don’t offer the same, or offer both. So, today, we thought we’d explain the main differences between Month-Of Coordination and Day-Of Coordination.
Month-Of Coordination: The only way I know how to do coordination, Month-Of means that I meet with my clients a month before their wedding, and my clients bring me a copy of all of their contracts. From there, we do a basic planning of the day, including who will be speaking, what dances they may be performing, etc. After that, I being contacting every single vendor who is involved in the wedding, including the venue(s), and begin putting together a very detailed logistics overview for the wedding day, from the moment the couple wakes up in the morning, to when they are no longer at the venue. By doing so, I know exactly what is happening at every moment of that day, and am in constant contact with the vendors in case we need to change something around because something is running early… or late!
Day-Of Coordination: If true to what they’re offering, Day-Of Coordination means the wedding planner shows up on the day with very basic information of what needs to happen. You have who the vendors are, who will be speaking and dancing, maybe the courses that will be served, but that’s it! Planners who offer this type of Coordination usually offer it for set-up and tear down, but nothing in between. This is a great package for those who are doing a lot of DIY décor, and won’t be having any speeches or dances at their reception.
In my opinion, I will always offer Month-Of Coordination instead of Day-Of Coordination because not only do I know exactly what’s happening throughout the day, it gives me more reassurance not going into the wedding almost blind. Now, some Wedding Planners strive on the not-knowing, going into the event with very basic information and being able to put everything together without an issue; I am just not that Wedding Planner. I like to know, need to know, exactly what’s happening so I am prepared to fix it with all the information I have! For me, it’s better to know more than needed than not enough.
