A Day in the Life of a Wedding Planner

Wedding season is finally here and, along with our gorgeous couples, we could not be happier! Just last weekend we had two weddings back-to-back at the glorious Guild Inn Estates, and there was a LOT of running around to do to make this wedding spectacular for our amazing couples! “But,” you may ask, “what running around did you really have to do when we’re still only allowed to do micro weddings? What does a wedding planner really do on the day of my wedding?” Well, JLE family, here is A Day in the Life of a Wedding Planner!

  1. Although We’re Not With You, It Doesn’t Mean We’re Not Working: My bride was up at 5am on Saturday, and although I wasn’t to start at the Guild until 11am, I was still up at 5am with my bride. Why do you ask? Because if something happens, like the hair and makeup crew have trouble, or the photographer is running late, I need to be on my game and ready to fix whatever may happen!

  2. Prepared to Change Things Around: the way our couple had their chairs set up at the outdoor ceremony space, and the way our couple wanted to enter, we needed to move some chairs around to keep COVID regulations in check, and to make sure the bride had enough room for her gorgeous dress to not knock over the amazing décor we had set up! We also had to move some of the seats because there were some spots where the guests had pillars blocking their views, so we moved them around as well.

  3. Florals Must Be Perfect: The boutonnieres and corsages were picked up by the couple two days before the wedding and were not kept in the fridge, so by the time the wedding came around, the boutonnieres and corsages had wilted and began turning brown. We had to get the florist to create fresh ones for the groom and his parents before the ceremony began so everyone looked their absolute best.

  4. Keeping Up With the Vendors: We were in constant contact with the baker because, due to traffic, they were going to be over an hour late. Plus, the outside of the cake was made of chocolate, so as soon as they arrived on this extremely hot day, we had to get it directly into the fridge so it wouldn’t melt. Once the ceremony was completed did we bring out the cake to be served immediately!

  5. Cute Mementos for the Guests: Our couple had these cute party favours for each guest, and with 150 seats to be set out, we had to put each favour on each chair before guest arrival. Plus, we had to make sure to place it perfectly since part of it was a paper program and there were times where the right gust of wind could blow everything off. Another cute thing that they did was had us hide a few envelopes under some chairs and whomever had those envelopes won a white lantern filled with beautiful, fresh flowers!

That’s just a little of what a typical day in the life of a wedding planner, at least it is for us at JLE! Contact us today for your initial, free consultation and find out what else we can do for you!
