Top 5 Wedding Trends to Ignore

This last weekend, we met with so many amazing couples, and one couple in particular asked for our opinion on wedding trends that we see way too much of! Well, we love giving our clients what they want, so here is our Top 5 Wedding Trends to Ignore.

  1. Photo Booths: I feel like I’ve seen these at every wedding since before I got married in 2012, and I think it’s time to get rid of them. Instead of having your guests capture those “perfect” and fake photos with cheap props, invest in your photographer and videographer to capture perfectly real moments throughout your wedding day! Those are the ones you’re going to love to relive over and over again.

  2. “Trendy” Wedding Dresses: Gone are the days where brides are wearing a dress just because it’s the “in” dress; instead, brides are wearing dresses that fit their personality and wedding. Wear something that fits you properly, looks hella good, and suits your wedding look and theme.

  3. Large Bridal Parties: We found that in 2018 and 2019, couples were having larger and larger bridal parties, sometimes hitting the late teens, early twenties in numbers, but we now find that 2020 is all about smaller bridal parties, and we love the intimacy. Stay away from the double digits when your bridesmaids and groomsmen are combined, and stick to a total of six or less.

  4. Decorated Walls: Another trend that we recommend you staying away from are the donut walls and flower walls. Huge over the last couple of years, they’ve become overdone and overused for that perfect Instagram story. Instead, a great structure as a backdrop will work wonders for longevity and your social media post!

  5. Bride’s Grand Entrance: Yes, we’ve seen it all, from the bride walking down the aisle on a horse, to entering by having a person in a dinosaur suit by her side, but we’re begging you to stay away from this trend! Lately, though, we’ve seen such independence and girl-power and have seen brides walking down the aisle on their own, and we will admit to LOVING this!

We said it before, and we will say it again: Remember, this is your wedding, so don’t shy away from trends we find to be overused if it’s something you really want! And, if you want our opinion on anything, contact us today for your initial free consultation.
